Technology Services is responsible for the network in over 20 locations, approximately 820 computers/laptops, 250 Mobile Data Computers (MDCs), and information systems within the Office of the Sheriff.  This past year, this Division separated our Wide Area Network (WAN) from the County's WAN to meet California Department of Justice requirements for CLETS (California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System), developed and implemented a new Human Resources system, and converted our network from Novell to a Microsoft network that has positioned this Department to utilize advanced features of Microsoft's Application development tools, SharePoint Web Portals and enhanced interoperability with off-the-shelf systems.  Primary efforts for FY 07-08 are geared towards a new video surveillance system in CRF, a new LiveScan Fingerprint system, implementing an Automated Field Reporting solution for MDCs (Mobile Data Computers), developing redundancy in critical systems and infrastructure, and improving the information availability and accuracy in the Office of the Sheriff.
