Technology Services is responsible for the network in over 30 locations, approximately 800 computers/laptops, 450 Mobile Data Computers (MDCs) in the vehicles, ~80 servers (many of which are virtualized) in three data centers, 5 SANs, data deduplication data back-up appliances, and the many information systems and websites within the Office of the Sheriff.  This is a challenging endeavor for a staff of 14 full-time employees, but with the dedication and hard work of each and every technology civilian employee, the systems and communications are maintained and running 24/7.

Network and Systems that we support:

• Wide Area Network (WAN) for over 30 locations (separate secure WAN from the Kern County WAN - per California DOJ requirements)
• Over 80 servers (many of which are virtualized) and 5 SANS (Storage Area Networks) that are the infrastructure for the systems and network.

• Live Scan (fingerprint)/ Mugshot / Automated Fingerprint Information System (AFIS) systems in multiple locations (CRF, Lerdo, Mojave, Norris Road HQ, Ridgecrest, Truxtun Registrations, and Allied Agencies).  Also includes mobile fingerprint check devices with all vehicles.
