The Mojave Substation geographically covers approximately 1320 square miles, giving it one of the largest response areas of Kern County substations. The Mojave Substation is located at 1771 Highway 58 in Mojave, approximately 65 miles east southeast of Bakersfield. The Mojave Substation covers mostly a desert terrain on the western side of a vast desert region, which extends into three states called the Mojave Desert. It serves the greater Mojave area, and the communities of Cantil, Fremont Valley, Boron, North Edwards, Aerial Acres, Desert Lake, and the Military complex at Edwards Air Force Base.

The Mojave Substation operates within the East Kern Superior Court District. The Mojave Branch of the East Kern Superior Court is located adjacent to the Mojave Substation at 1773 Highway 58 in Mojave.
